Next Step Guidance & Resources

Understanding and Empowerment

Getting your diagnosis is the first step toward understanding the challenges you’ve faced, and it opens the door to a range of treatments, tools, and support. You now have a name to an issue you’ve been experiencing; this is a relief, as well as comforting and empowering. Many times, we see the problems we have as a reflection of who we are, for example, when you don’t do well in school you might think “I’m just not smart”.

If you’ve struggled in relationships or at work, you may have felt defeated- like no matter how hard you try, something keeps getting in the way. Eventually that can lead to depression, and hopelessness.

But the truth is, these challenges have an explanation. A diagnosis doesn’t define you, but it makes sense of what’s been happening. It’s not the end of the story; it’s the beginning of real solutions.

Guidance, Support and Tools

Once your assessment is complete, we sit down with you and review our analysis and conclusions, ensuring you fully understand your diagnosis, and how it has been at the root of many of the challenges you’ve been facing. This is the first step toward exploring the range of treatment options available, enabling you to go forward with insight and support.

Common approaches to treatment include working with a coach or a therapist who specializes in ADHD to help you sort through the different challenges that have made attaining your goals so difficult. Self-image and self-esteem are frequently impacted by previously undiagnosed ADHD, and therapy can be very helpful in these areas. Today there are multiple Apps and alarms that help with time management, podcasts and videos to help with organization, and programs to help with substance abuse if that has been one of the ways you have coped. If needed, we can provide you with a letter requesting accommodations, such as allowing you extra time for exams, extended deadlines, permission to wear air pods or headphones to minimize noise, or any of several other modifications that might be helpful for your success.
